Friends of HWA

We normally hold an informal meeting at the Academy once a month in the evening, where we discuss events that are up coming and how we can best raise money.

The events we have supported during the past year are:

Hanham Common Fayre: We had a very successful time at the Hanham Common Fayre on Saturday 18th May 2019 and made a healthy £105 profit from the raffle and table games we were running (selling raffle tickets with a chance to win a Wheelbarrow full of “Garden Party” themed goodies).

It was a busy day and it was great to represent the Academy in the community.

Friends of HWA

Festival of Sport (we sell ice-creams, drinks and sweets to students throughout the day);

Hanham High Street Christmas Fayre (we sell products we have made e.g. Reindeer hot chocolate, Candy cane Reindeer, Snowman poo to name a few);

Tuck Shop (on the last day of term, we open a Tuck Shop during break time);

Leavers’ Hoodies for Year 11 students leaving the Academy (there are printed with the names of all the students on them in the Year Group and make lovely keepsakes for the students);

Quiz Nights, which are great nights all round;

Open Evening Refreshments at any other open evenings the Academy may have.

As you can see, we are very busy, but it is totally worthwhile!

If you think you have what it takes to become one of the Friends of Hanham Woods Academy, then please drop me, Louise Sims, an email at louisetaylor40@hotmail.co.uk or come along to the next meeting.

We hope to be fundraising with you soon.
