I am passionate about education, its importance and the vital role our academies play in enabling students to obtain the best possible qualifications they can achieve but also equipping them with the confidence, resilience and drive required to succeed in their careers and life in general.  I am a sponsored Academy Councillor at Hanham Woods Academy and the Safeguarding Councillor.

I have worked as a teacher for nearly 30 years and I  still  feel as passionate now, as I did all those years ago, about providing the young people going through our schools and academies with a balanced education. One that provides access to the wonders of the world, fair employment and the level of achievement needed to make the next steps in a life time of learning.

I have a passion for learning and development of both children, young people and adults; I see it as a route to both career development but also enriching life overall.

As a Registered Nurse I have developed a number of programmes using education as a route to supporting clinical careers and now work in wider roles using my clinical skills  and healthcare experience to make healthcare a rewarding environment in which to work.

In my ‘spare’ time I enjoy family life, travelling and have a keen eye for politics, both locally and nationally.
